What is a ceramic additive and why should I consider it?

Ceramic oil additives were developed in Germany to offer protection in internal combustion engines. Since most engine wear occurs at startup, a solution that would bond to the parts and offer lubrication in the absence of oil was sought. Ceramic oil additives fill in microscopic valleys in the metal, and form a protective layer of hexagonal boron nitride. This layer is extremely resistant to heat and will remain in place even if the device being lubricated is starved of oil. Much testing has been done to compare engines treated and not treated, being run without oil, and the difference with the ceramic additive is staggering. Eliminating friction, and it's evil twin, heat pays large dividends in the service life of anything you use it on.
